Job Description: As an Estimator, you will play a crucial role in the pre-construction phase of our projects. Leveraging your expertise in estimating and hard bid experience, you will be responsible for accurately assessing project costs and preparing comprehensive bids. This role requires a thorough understanding of construction processes, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Review project plans, specifications, and contract documents to understand project scope, requirements, and constraints.
  2. Conduct quantity takeoffs and prepare accurate cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
  3. Analyze historical data, market trends, and subcontractor quotes to develop competitive and realistic bid proposals.
  4. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to optimize project plans and identify value engineering opportunities.
  5. Prepare bid packages, including detailed cost breakdowns, schedules, and qualifications, ensuring compliance with client requirements and industry standards.
  6. Participate in bid meetings, negotiations, and presentations to clients, demonstrating expertise and professionalism.
  7. Maintain a thorough understanding of project budgets, timelines, and risk factors, providing timely updates and recommendations to management.
  8. Mentor and support junior estimators, sharing knowledge and best practices to enhance team performance.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Estimator in heavy civil and/or commercial construction.
  • Proven track record of successfully bidding on projects with a minimum value of $25 million.
  • Strong proficiency in construction estimating software (e.g., HCSS, HeavyBid, Sage Estimating, Procore) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex project documents and specifications.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices, regulations, and cost trends.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., Certified Professional Estimator) are a plus.
