Job Title: Mechanical Construction Assistant Project Manager

Job Overview: As a Mechanical Construction Assistant Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of mechanical systems installation and integration within commercial construction projects. Working closely with the project team, subcontractors, vendors, and clients, you will ensure the successful planning, execution, and completion of mechanical construction projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Planning and Execution: Develop comprehensive project plans, schedules, and budgets in collaboration with the project team. Coordinate and manage all activities related to mechanical systems installation, including HVAC, plumbing, piping, and fire protection.

  2. Resource Management: Allocate resources effectively, including manpower, equipment, and materials, to ensure project milestones are achieved on schedule. Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams to procure necessary materials and equipment in a timely manner.

  3. Subcontractor Management: Select, negotiate contracts with, and oversee subcontractors and vendors involved in mechanical construction activities. Monitor subcontractor performance, resolve issues, and ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards.

  4. Quality Assurance and Compliance: Implement quality control procedures to ensure mechanical systems are installed according to design drawings, specifications, and applicable codes and standards. Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and address quality issues promptly.

  5. Safety Leadership: Promote a culture of safety on the job site by enforcing safety policies and procedures. Conduct regular safety meetings, inspections, and training sessions to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and industry best practices.

  6. Client Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding mechanical construction activities. Provide regular updates on project progress, address client concerns and requests, and ensure client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.

  7. Change Management: Manage project changes effectively by assessing impacts on scope, schedule, and budget, and implementing appropriate change management processes. Document and communicate changes to all relevant stakeholders to maintain project alignment.

  8. Financial Management: Monitor project budgets, expenditures, and financial performance. Identify potential cost overruns or savings opportunities and take proactive measures to manage project costs within budgetary constraints.


  1. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  2. Previous experience in mechanical construction project management role, preferably in commercial construction industry (Life Science or BioPharma).
  3. Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems and equipment, including HVAC, plumbing, piping, and fire protection.
  4. Proficiency in project management software such as Primavera, Procore, or Microsoft Project.
  5. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  6. Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
  7. Knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and regulations governing mechanical construction projects.
  8. OSHA certification or willingness to obtain certification preferred.
